Jersey City, N.J. – Based in Jersey City, Grid Real Estate announced earlier today that the agency has completed four retail deals in Journal Square and Downtown Jersey City.

After a lengthy and exhausting year due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, many businesses were forced to stop previously planned expansions or even, close entirely. But, as 2020 has come to a close and 2021 has begun, the world is starting to finally open up which is especially fortunate for the retail industry worldwide.

745 Newark Ave’s retail space was previously home to Hilsa, a neighborhood halal grocer, but has been vacant since the start of the current epidemic. However, it will be opening its’ doors to Exotic Snax; a Bronxbased variety store. Their products consist of rare, foreign snacks, beverages, and tobacco products. This 900 SF storefront will become their 4th location, but will be their first in New Jersey.

115-117 Brunswick Street’s 1,700 SF anchor corner space has gone under complete modernization and will become the new flagship store for Into The Void Coffee and Antiques. This dual-purpose storefront specializes in craft coffee and describes itself as an expresso lounge that also sells one-of-a-kind antiques.

190 Academy Street’s 122 micro unit building featuring a 1,350 SF anchor retail space. The space will be acquired by Flipsigi, a Filipino Tacqueria. There restaurant features a modern-take on an approachable Filipino menu, perfectly crafted by celebrity chef, Jordan Andino. Flipsigi will be a flagship eatery for all food lovers in the area, surely becoming a hot-spot as it gains foot traffic with popularity.

591 Summit Ave, Jersey City’s first retail/office building, will be welcoming Confident Care. Confident Care will be taking the 900 SF retail space that became available for a short time before the pandemic. Confident Care is known to provide excellent, innovative, and accessible skilled, as well as non-skilled, home care for the residents in the state of New Jersey.

Grid’s Bobby Antonicello, Greg D. Edgell, and Dante Trigo represented both landlords in the transactions described above. Exotic Snax, The Void Coffee and Antiques, and Flipsigi all signed 5-year leases with 5- year options, while Confident Care signed a 3-year lease. The transactions totaled to be 4,850 SF leased altogether.

“It has been a challenging year for a countless number of businesses within our community, and we at Grid Real Estate LLC are honored to be part of the effort in jumpstarting the Gold Coast economy. All tenants have interesting concepts that offer competitive advantages in their fields, allowing them to ultimately thrive in Jersey City,” said Dante Trigo.
